Shirley began taking piano lessons at the age of six, with Julie Dent and volunteers at different nursing and care homes in Stockton. From time to time she volunteers at St. Mary’s Dining Hall by giving free piano lessons to homeless kids.
At the age of seventeen, she was named Miss Northern California Teen Talent 2004 in San Jose, California and represented Northern California at the Miss American Teen Talent competition and took 2nd place at the national talent competition by performing Waltz in D flat Major “Minute Waltz” by Chopin. During her last year in High School, she studied with Frank Wiens at the University of the Pacific. She graduated at Amos Alonzo Stagg High School and earned three A.A Degrees at Delta College in Humanities, Music and Liberal Arts. She was the Talent Winner at the Miss San Joaquin Pageant 2008.
Playing the piano is her passion and has made her appreciate music. Her heart’s desire is to instill into her students the same passion for music that she has.
