Nick Auriemmo, a native of Long Island, New York, gradually made his way to the west coast thanks to music. While earning his Bachelor’s degree in Performance and Music Education at the
State University of New York, Fredonia, Nick studied classical and contemporary music as well as West African drumming and xylophone with Ghanaian master Bernard Woma. Nick completed a year of graduate work at the University of Hartford where he continued his percussion training and had the opportunity to study Middle Eastern frame drumming with Glen
Velez. Nick received his Masters of Music degree from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, in Percussion Performance and Pedagogy. During this time he was a member of the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, Beloit Symphony and played drum set and hand percussion with several local bands.
Currently, a resident of Lodi, Nick is a member of the American Federation of Musicians (Local 12 and Local 189) and has performed with the Sacramento Symphony, Modesto Symphony and Stockton Symphony. He has also played with the Stockton Civic Theater and Sacramento Music Circus in their musical productions. Through his studio work he has appeared on several local
artist albums and keeps a busy schedule drumming for James Garner’s Tribute to Johnny Cash. Nick believes that proper technique, reading music and developing listening skills makes a person more than a drummer, it makes them a musician.
