Soprano Samantha Harrison obtained her BM in vocal performance from California State University, Stanislaus and her MM in Historical Performance from Boston University. She has sung with the CSU Stanislaus Opera Program and the Townsend Opera Company of Modesto, CA, performing in such operas as Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, Lehar’s The Merry Widow, Bizet’s Carmen, and Sullivan’s The Mikado. She participated in the Fairbanks Opera Summer Program of Alaska, where she performed such roles as Lucia from Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor and Julie from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel. Ms. Harrison also enjoys performing chamber music and has sung with groups including the CSU Stanislaus Chamber Singers and the Graduate Vocal Ensemble of Boston University. Her time spent studying early music at Boston University enabled her to perform with a number of baroque chamber groups specializing in the styles of such composers as Rameau, Strozzi, and Monteverdi. This spring, Ms. Harrison performed with The Harvard Early Music Society in the Boston premier of Hasse’s early opera, “Alcide Al Bivio.”
Ms. Harrison’s love for music extends much further than performance. She has always enjoyed teaching and working with others. She hopes to instill the same love and joy for music, that she carries, in all her students.
